Raspberry Ripples Crochet...

Behind my front door my little fingers spent March busily crocheting away in a blurry fury to finish off the pink stripe blanket!
{now known to me as the Raspberry Ripple}

And finish it in time for the birthday I did!!

It is once again just so much nicer than I had hoped...

I was still busy on the morning of the birthday, adding the finishing touches of pom pom trim to the sides.
I didn't follow a pattern in the end for the pom poms just used my brain

(and surprisingly it all came out very nicely in the end).

What else, what else?
That has been it for March, most, no all my time was spent with the pink blanket which grew and grew!

I must, must, must finish the Christmas blanket though, once that is upon the lap of its recipient then I can concentrate on other little follies!

Up-cycled Bird Cage...

A while ago, well last year, I had an idea after a bit of buyers regret.
I had spotted at the boot sale a really cute very old bird cage.  It was small but curvy and reminded me of the little old fashioned caravans {that I dream of owning}

Anyway at the time as much as I liked it I had already filled both my arms with booty and in the heat couldn't be bothered to struggle back to the car with it.
*sigh*
Hence the buyers regret...snooze you lose

Roll onto to a wet day earlier this year and I found a bit of a beauty...

The idea I had brewing was split in 2.

A shelf for my girls room, which would mean cutting the front of it off and inserting a shelf

or

to fill it with potted plants as I have a set of steps for the garden which it would look lovely hanging off

Now if it was to go into the girls room it would need to be white so...

but it wasn't rocking it for the girls and I put plan B into action...

Paint it bright pink to either go in the garden or list it for sale...

I have to say I think Plan B is the better one

and it sits nicely with the hand-made Cath Kidston Budgie fabric lampshade...

Mothers Day 2014...

I am  a lucky girl...

This year Mothers Day was dry and sunny,
I made a most delicious roast dinner with the best bit of beef I've eaten in years {thanks farmer Giles!}

I was gifted pretty flowers...

But I was also gifted a day off, a real genuine day off!!
Not on Mothers Day, that was spent with various little and big ones and a trip to see my very own mum x

No my day off was...

The Cath Kidston store in a local town was hosting a Lampshade Making workshop and I booked myself in!

It was good fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing, I chose my fabric online the night before...

Cath Kidston Big Budgies

and soon got to work...

perched {do you get it?} just inside the shop by the door

it was a fun couple of hours and I had a legit reason to be lingering in a very cute little shop!

The end result?
Well turned out way better than I had hoped

soon to be listed for sale

 and

Ties in nicely with another little March project which I'll show and tell next time!

Wandering into March....

All things considered January was a busy month,  could have done more but on the other hand I could have done a LOT less!!

I rolled into February, dreading the cold that might go hand in hand with February but appreciating that Spring is nearing on the horizon.

I was lucky enough to work again at the Artisan Florist and witnessed the terrible effects of the flooding and gave myself a 'your such a lucky girl' talking to.

Valentines kept the florists busy, very busy...spare a thought next time your order your gorgeous flowers for the talented peeps that make those wonderful floral bouquets...there's a LOT of thorns to trim!

We don't do Valentines here really, this year I put a little floral display in our mini milk bottles

and popped them on my daughter Lolly's dresser...a simple bunch of paperwhites & hyacinths with a bit of eucalyptus for greenery.
Smelt heavenly
{wish I had the sense to take a photo!}

I finished the paper flower wreath, trimmed with the odd pom pom or two and hung it in the lounge

I played more than a I should have with washi tape

and eventually realised that the next MK Handmade and Vintage Fair is fast approaching so got busy with Priddy Priddy stock and displays

There is possibly nothing nicer to bring a smile to my chubby little cheeks than washi tape and pom poms!!

Cheap daffs from the shops, vintage chockie box and a pretty polka dot jug, all in all a happy little corner of my home.

See you in March or at the MK Handmade and Vintage Fair!

This week I will mostly be

 ...making blankets,

Hooky fun

This one is new on the hook...

for my eldest Abba

Stylecraft Value yarn from The Wool Warehouse
I ordered 12 balls but as usual it's turning out bigger than I initially planned in my head and I don't think it can be done in 12...but we'll see

I'm hoping I've still got the fabric on the tin stashed away somewhere, I think  it would make a few nice cushion covers for her?

The other blanket I'm working on is the one for my niece, L's,

it was meant to be a Crimbo present but it simply wasn't big enough...

She might have been happy with a lap blanket but I wanted it big enough for her to snuggle under when she goes away to uni.

And that's it, this is what I have been up to and what I will be up to this weekend!

**Happy Weekending**

Happy Post...

Don't you just love it when Mr Posty knocks on your door with a parcel or two?

I do...especially when he knocks on more than one day!!

My pattern for Loopy's dress has arrived, quick delivery from France...

But let me show you the envelope it came in...

pretty cool right?
Made from a recycled map of Germany.

But that wasn't all...
Another really quick delivery, this time cotton yarn...

I'm looking to make a few make up/toner pads and possibly a wash cloth or two depending on how much yarn the pads eat up.

Then joy of joy extra, super fast delivery from The Wool Warehouse {literally free overnight delivery!} to finish off one of the blankets that I have on the go and also another that may just have slipped its way onto my hook.

*insert Happy Dance*

Oh what a week, Mollies Makes, Yarn deliveries, sewing plans coming to fruition and pom pom making...

*sigh*

Oh and I may have baked cakes as well...

I may also have eaten one before the kiddos came home...

Sewing Plans for Loopy...

A tidy up of my middle daughters wardrobe and, I realised she has now outgrown everything I have made for her.

Hmmn

She has a certain style that suits her well

No action photo's but we made a few of these and they were worn well.  And thanks to the lovely Amy Butler fabric she had a lot of compliments.

The pattern I have/had runs to a size 7/8yrs and although she is only just 8 she is already 148cm tall.

Zip forward to blog-surfing and this dress with a link to buy the pattern popped out to me.
I like the little panel at the top.

It is perfect for the lovely Loopy.

There I've said it out loud so I really have to do it, watch this space...
